Biography and Professional Background
Dr. Francesca degli Espinosa is a UK-based behavior analyst and psychologist whose work bridges research, teaching, and clinical practice in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). She is the founder and lead clinician at a behavioral clinic in Southampton, UK, providing diagnostic assessment, family consultation, and professional supervision for BCBAs and behavior technicians.
Francesca’s research focuses on the behavioral interpretation of child development, language, and social responding. Her academic interests include early social behavior, generative verbal behavior, and theory of mind in children with autism. She has led the first UK-based EIBI (Early Intensive Behavioral Intervention) outcome study and earned her PhD in Psychology under the supervision of Prof. Bob Remington at the University of Southampton.
She teaches advanced courses in behavior analysis at several universities, including the University of Salerno (Italy), Penn State University (USA), and Queen’s University Belfast (UK), and regularly supervises postgraduate students and certified practitioners.
Dr. degli Espinosa is the recipient of the 2023 Clinical Supervisor Award in Verbal Behavior from the ABAI Verbal Behavior Special Interest Group. She has also served as a board member of the B.F. Skinner Foundation. Her work emphasizes the integration of research and practice to advance effective interventions for children with autism and to support parents and professionals worldwide.
